چکیده

The molecular recognition properties of a sulfur containing β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) derivative chemisorbed on a silver surface are described. Hepta-6-amino-6-deoxy-β-CD was allowed to react with CS2 in the presence of ammonia to give a mixture of partially substituted dithiocarbamate derivatives with an average degree of substitution of 4.5. A modified silver electrode with this derivative is capable of discriminating between the three positional isomers of nitrobenzoate ion and nitrophenol, as determined by cyclic voltammetry. Only the metaand para-isomers give a signal corresponding to the reduction of the nitro group. This is attributed to the different orientations of the nitro group with respect to the silver surface after inclusion in the CD cavity. Experiments in the presence of cyclohexanol showed a decrease in signal intensity of the metaand para-isomers which is associated with the competitive complexation of this guest, suggesting that the electroactive probe is complexed to the cavity.

Development of Dipicolylamine-Modified Cyclodextrins for the Design of Selective Guest-Responsive Receptors for ATP.

The construction of supramolecular recognition systems based on specific host-guest interactions has been studied in order to design selective chemical sensors. In this study, guest-responsive receptors for ATP have been designed with cyclodextrins (CyDs) as a basic prototype of the turn-on type fluorescent indicator. We synthesized dipicolylamine (DPA)-modified CyD-Cu2+ complexes (Cu·1α, Cu·1β...

Cyclodextrin Derivatives as Chiral Supramolecular Receptors for Enantioselective Sensing

In view of the chiral nature of many bio-molecules (and all bio-macromolecules), most of therapeutically active compounds which target these molecules need to be chiral and “good handed” to be effective. In addition to asymmetric synthetic and separation methodologies, enantioselective chemical sensors, able to distinguish between two enantiomers of the same molecule, are of relevance. In order...

Improved Production of Cyclodextrins by Alkalophilic Bacilli Immobilized on Synthetic or Loofa Sponges

This study aimed to improve the production of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) by microbial cells immobilized on synthetic or loofa sponges both with and without the use of alginate or chitosan. The most suitable matrix for the immobilization of Bacillus firmus strain 7B was synthetic sponge and for Bacillus sphaericus strain 41 was loofa sponge. After 330 days of storage, the β-CD production by Bacillus ...

Synthesis of cyclodextrin derivatives with monosacharides and their binding with ampicillin and selected lectins

βand γ-Cyclodextrins connected on their narrow side via 6 bond-linkers with monosaccharides (Man, GlcNAc) suitable for bacterial lectin recognition, along with reference mono-analogues were prepared. The resulting compounds: (a) posses a functional cavity forming inclusion complexes with a model guest molecule and with the antibiotic ampicillin; (b) inhibit by more than 30% the hydrolysis of am...
